Tanja Dursun, academic painter, has chosen the painting with the abundance in it, with deposited tradition and its plenitude, kinetic quality, energy and dominance so that she could take the realistic template into the act of fission and set the drawing to the border of realistic and abstract. Series of drawings appeared as the product of Tanja’s research and her own understanding of art and energy potentials of drawing itself. They gave us visible appearance of primary qualities collected into reduced notes that artist left on the paper.
Her hermetic composition suddenly gets opened to let the painting have its own pulse, life and movement in wide bow – from informal trough painters’ gesture, sign and symbol to become elaborated in possible associative abstraction when the artist brings in new materials giving them totally different quality.
Ireland has a tradition of spiritual enquiry. It it also a land of beauty which lends itself to the painter and poet immersing themselves in this beauty. John’s career has involved him in both aspects, progressing from involvement with his surroundings of sea and mountain to that of spiritual enquiry. For the past twenty years he has worked on themes rather than singular paintings, exploring themes such as ‘Love’ in the series ‘The Song of Songs’ and ‘Death’ in the the series “The Dream of Gerontius” and the “The Seven Last Words of Christ”.

Just to let you know that I am showing in a cafe in Totnes from today 1st October to 3rd November. The cafe is the Tangerine Cafe and I have some lovely work selling for very reasonable prices, from the ethereal, Reflection/ Bidwell Brook and 2 other giclee prints selling from £85 – £95 mounted and framed to some small watercolours of flowers from £125 – there are also a couple of works which are in the Agora Gallery which are much more expensive but much of the work on sale carries no commission and is well worth a visit if you are in the South Hams Area of Devon.
The Tangerine Tree is in Totnes and sells wonderful food including lovely home made cakes catering for all diets.
