Astronomical events, like buses, you wait for ages and then several arrive at the same time. The latest Symmetrees draw their influence from these events. Like the solar eclipse they require three objects. In this case, the sun, the tree and the viewer. On a misty morning, placing the tree between you the viewer and the sun creates an ecliptic parallel with a sense of awe and wonder. The light spreads and flattens perspective, profiling a silhouette of the tree, like the moon, it’s visible face cast into darkness.
THE SPRING EQUINOX
The darkness of night is equal in length to the light of day. It’s determined by the sun rise and sun set, giving the same amount of hours between events. Good news, daytime from now on is longer than the night. Here’s comes the sun and spring!
THE ART SPRING
It’s a fitting time to say goodbye to the charcoal skeletons of deciduous trees and welcome new leaves and growth. But before you do, there’s a chance to see some eclipse inspired Symmetrees along with work by other Tonbridge Creative artists at the Art Spring show in Tonbridge. It’s open from the 31st March – 7th April. We would love to see you at the Private View. An invite waiting for you on our Facebook page.
