Dex Hannon was born in Manchester and now resides in Yorkshire. He is one part of the Broken Toy Company. An artist’s Collective with a twist.
He creates radical geometric paintings in Acrylic and Molotow pen on canvas. This series is the Chaos Agriculture work, a body of paintings influenced by the book, Future Shock by Sociologist Alvin Toffler. Once a painting is finished its life does not end there. Working from photographs of each painting he remixes the work to create the series Retro-Futurism.
His work is predominantly around layers, constructions of past and future or foreground and background. They both need there counterparts. without it they are lost. In the paintings the past battles the future digitally created work. Both works are a battle ground of foreground and background.
